Welcome to Urbino, Le Marche
A representative will meet you at Bologna airport for a private transfer to the medieval walled city of Urbino in le Marche. En route, we will stop in the mountainous microstate of San Marino for lunch and a rest, before continuing on to Urbino where you will check into your hotel before dinner and your first chance to taste the local truffles.
Le Marche truffle hunt, lunch in Osteria and cheese tasting
We meet a local truffle hunter and his dog for a lovely country walk in the woods and to find the prize white truffles the region is so famous for. You will learn on the job from someone so experienced and passionate about this ancient way of life that the experience will be one to remember for a long time. Lunch will be taken at a local restaurant in the small village of Acqualagna that specialises in regional dishes using the best local ingredients. After lunch its time to visit the Beltrini family that produce some of the best artisan cheeses and olive oils in le Marche to sample the real flavour of the land.
Free time in Acqualagna
Free time to explore the quaint walled city of Urbina and the truffle capital of the world Acqualagna. In autumn Acqualagna plays host to the Fiera Nazionale del Tartufo Bianco or National White Truffle Fair. We highly recommend you time your visit with the fair which we can help arrange for you.
Return transfer to Bologna
After breakfast, it is time to check out of your hotel and transfer to Bologna for a night in the self-proclaimed capital of Italian food! here you have free time to explore the historic city and eat some of it renowned restaurants.
